Shrinking The Planet – One Ride At A Time

Updates for Non-Europeans On The New 2013 KTM 1190 Adventure

I had the good fortune to be passing through the Zürich Airport Saturday, March 9, 2013.  While I was walking to the train station there, I found a full factory KTM Exhibit booth staffed by two KTM employees.  Lo and behold, right in front of me was the new and as yet unavailable KTM 1190 Adventure (not the R version with the 21″ front wheel) as well as other new KTM models.  Since this is an adventure riding site I will concentrate on the 1190A.

I know that the first thing most of us Americans want to know is…  “When is it coming to US? ”  I asked this question to one of the KTM reps and was told that it is presently scheduled for shipping starting in July, 2013 with shipping and distribution taking another month or so.  That puts arrival and sales of the KTM 1190A in the US in August, 2013 at the earliest.

But unfortunately, there could be a catch.  If European demand is high, KTM may delay shipments to the US in order to meet European demand!  Ach!!!  So while I want the 1190A to be a worldwide success, if it is, it may delay deliveries to the US and for how long, I don’t know. Anyway, to whet your appetite, here are some pictures of the bikes at the stand as well as pictures of the three brochures I got, which of course are all in German.

I hope you enjoy!

Mike
